Sepak Takraw

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
Today we had participated in Sepak Takraw this game is from south east Asia. Sepak Takraw is a game similar to volleyball but instead of using your hands you use your feet to kick it over the net. For this game you need teams of 3 and the objective of the game is to kick the ball over the net and try make it hit the ground and that is how you score points.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
For today I would grade myself as a Achieve because I was engaged and I had participated but my effort wasn't all that great. For example I was organized and prepared for the activity by bringing my PE gear. I was also trying to improve by practicing and participating in the activity
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
- Skill Level
- Challenge
+ Friends/Classmates
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Skill level had a affect on me because it was hard to play and I would start getting frustrated because the ball wouldn't go over the net. This had a negative affect on my participation.
Challenge also had a affect on me because the game was challenging and we also couldn't hit the ball with our hands. This had a negative affect on me.
Friends/Classmates also had a affect on me because I like playing with and against my classmates so it had a positive affect on me.

How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?
In the future a way to increase my peers participation is by sitting with them and talking with them and try to figure out why they don't wanna play and see if I can do anything.

Newtons Laws of Motion

  • Who is sir Isaac Newton?
Sir Isaac Newton was a philosopher/scientist/astronomer. Sir Isaac Newton is the man who created the laws of motion he is also the most influential scientist of all time.
  •  Explain the 3 Laws
So the 3 laws are The law of inertia, The law of acceleration and The law of action and reaction. The first law the law of inertia is if a ball is at rest it will remain at rest until a unbalanced force is applied to the ball. The 2nd law the law of acceleration is like if you have 2 different balls of different mass you will need to apply more force to the heavier ball to make them move the same distance. The last law is the law of action and reaction and for every action there will be and equal and opposite reaction.
  • How did the game"Inertia ball" demonstrate Newtons Laws?
In the game Inertia ball it demonstrated everyone law of motion. The first law the law of inertia was demonstrated by the swiss ball the swiss ball would be sitting still in the middle of the court until the swiss ball had been hit by the other balls. The second law the law of acceleration is demonstrated by the balls that were thrown at the swiss ball because the ball had different mass you had to throw each ball differently for example the basket ball would have a heavier mass than the volley ball and tennis ball. The last law the law of action and reaction was demonstrated when we threw the ball because the action  is us throwing the ball and the reaction is the 2 balls bouncing off each other.

Ultimate Frisbee

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
So today we played ultimate frisbee. The rules of the game are very simple its just like turbo touch but instead with a frisbee. First things first is you make 2 teams and just before you start you will have both teams start at each end of the field. The aim of the game is to get the frisbee down the other end of the field to score a point.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
For today I would grade myself with a Merit because I was really engaged in the game and I was also trying hard to get the frisbee down the other end of the field to score a point. While playing I very motivated to play the game and I also showed that I enjoyed playing this game.

need to add in 2-3 examples from the marking criteria
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
- Environment
+ Previous Experience
- Challenge
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Environment was a negative because it was really windy so it had a big effect on the frisbee because you had to try counter the wind when you would throw the frisbee. This had a small affect on me because I would start getting mad because I couldn't throw the frisbee straight or to my team mates, so I didn't want to play as much.

Previous Experience was a positive because I had played this game back in yr 9-10. This also had a small affect on me because I had previous experience I kind of already knew how the game was played and the rules. Because I knew a little bit of the game, this affected my participation, because I was trying to play at other peoples level who hadn't played before. So I wasn't playing as serious as I could.

Challenge was negative because it wasn't easy trying to throw the frisbee towards the wind. This had a big affect on me considering it was hard to throw the frisbee I would start getting frustrated because the frisbee wouldn't go where I wanted it to go. So this made me not want to play because the frisbee went the wrong way.

How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?
I could increase my peers participation by making them want to play the game. By motivating them and making them hyped to play the game by talking and asking what makes them not want to play.

  • What are the three parts of balance and stability?
- Centre Of Gravity (COG)
- Line Of Gravity (LOG)
- Base Of Support (BOS)
  • How can someone increase their balance and/or stability?
The first way you can increase your balance or stability is by widening your base of support or by lowering your centre of gravity you can also increase your balance and stability by making sure the line of gravity is near the middle of your base of support
  • Describe your task from the start of the poses to the end of the Slides. Talk about what you enjoyed and what you found difficult.
So the task was to form different poses and find out where the centre of gravity was where the line of gravity was and where the base of support was. The thing I liked the most was forming the poses and it was also the most difficult for me.

Muscles

  • What are the three types of muscles? Give examples
The three types of muscles are cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscles. The first type of muscle is the cardiac muscles, the cardiac muscles are muscles that move continuously without control. The second type of muscles are the skeletal muscles, these muscles are the muscles that you find throughout the skeleton and these are also muscles that are controlled by the person. The third type of muscles is the smooth muscles, The smooth muscles are the muscles found in organs such as your intestines, these muscles are muscles that move continuously without control.
  • Describe what agonist and antagonist muscles are
Agonist and antagonist muscles are muscles the contract and relax. Agonist muscles are the muscles that contract when you do a knee or elbow flexion and the antagonist is the muscle that lengthens when you do a knee or elbow flexion.
  • What are some movements in the body and examples of the movement in a sport?
A movement that you would use in a sport is a elbow extension and you would use it in basket ball when you go to shoot a 3 pointer. Another movement you would use in a sport is knee extension and you would use it in rugby when you go to kick the ball for a conversion.
  • Choose one activity we have completed in class and describe what your task was.
The activity that I choose was poke-a-muscle. The objective was to go through the different stages poking muscle different areas of the human body and as you progressed more into the game it got harder and harder. The way that the game helped me was by showing me where all the different types of muscle were in the human body.
